IN 2018, Booking.com drew up a list of the most welcoming places and countries in the world, and the list shows that the Balkans have some very welcoming hosts.
When it comes to the most welcoming places in the world, second place was taken by the Croatian town of Slunj.
It is a town with just over 5,000 residents, located on the banks of the rivers Slunjcica and Korana. The main highway leading to Plitvice Lakes as well as to the central and southern Adriatic also passes through Slunj. With its surroundings, Slunj covers an area of 401 square kilometers.
Here are the most welcoming places: Goreme (Turkey), Slunj (Croatia), Eluanbi (Taiwan), Niagara (Canada), Lake Tekapo (New Zealand), Bendigo (Australia), Newport (USA), Nozawa Onsen (Japan), Fernando de Noronha (Brazil) and El Chalten (Argentina).
Booking.com also drew up a list of most welcoming countries, which included Serbia.
The ten most welcoming countries are Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Romania, Hungary, Ireland, Serbia, and Greece.
These two lists were created based on user reviews.
