RECENTLY, one of the world's best basketball players in history, Earvin Magic Johnson, visited Croatia with his family and friends. He arrived in Split in an 86 meter long, $150 million Aquila yacht and got off on the Split West Coast, where he was greeted by hundreds of fans.

Magic got off the yacht in front of the Meduro bar, where such vessels are usually moored, and as information about his arrival spread throughout Split, hundreds of fans gathered. The likable and always smiling basketball player was ready to take photos with everyone who asked for it, and he also talked with the locals.

The West Coast was getting really crowded, but Magic did not seem bothered by the crowd or by the fact that almost none of the people who came to see him wore a mask or kept an appropriate distance.

The 60-year-old former superstar will probably continue sailing the Adriatic after visiting Split.

Along with Larry Bird, Magic was the world's biggest basketball star in the 80s. He spent his entire career with the LA Lakers, from 1979 to 1991, with a brief comeback in 1996. With the LA Lakers, he won five NBA titles (1980, '82, '85, '87, and '88), three MVP titles, and three MVP finals and was selected 12 times for an All-Star game. He is officially listed among the 50 best basketball players of all time, but for most fans, he is one of the top 10, if not five, and he is undoubtedly the best playmaker in history.
